DRAW

Draw was created during my final semester of college for my Senior Thesis project. Draw won 1st prize at the Graphic Design and Fine Art Senior Exhibition at York College. My motivation and drive to produce and share Draw is fueled by my belief that everyone is creative until they are not. Creativity may seem to come easier to some over others, but that gap can be filled with hard work and deliberate focus.

Draw is full of hurdles and walls you’ll need to find ways through, under, around, and over. Draw is about establishing your creative crusade, working on your creative process, and obtaining creative confidence. Drawing is whatever and wherever you allow it to be. Drawing has no occupation or job title. Drawing has no dress code, social status, or minimum credit score. Drawing is for everyone. You may have given it up as a kid or were lead to believe that it was something you were bad at it, but drawing is how you are going to rediscover yourself. It’s the simple act and deliberate practice of drawing that is going to change your world and maybe even the world.

To say that I am a bit upset with the way we view creativity today would be putting it lightly–this idea that some of us have it and others don’t, which results in the ‘others’ sacrificing their creative spirits, buying into ready-made, pre-packaged, well photographed projects, and step by step how to lists. Creativity is not predefined, packaged, or sold, and coloring in the lines does not a creative make. At the end of all of these projects is not a passion for more, but rather an even bigger gap within you in pursuit of real creativity, because this version of creative spirit is ultimately dissatisfying. Stop writing yourself off as un-creative. Stop ignoring your creativity.

YMCA YORK COUNTY

We wanted to bring the York County branches of a nearly 200-year-old institution into the 21st century. The original website for the YMCA of York and York County relied on a CMS that was bulky, hard-to-navigate and outdated. With dynamically changing program offerings, several local branches and a variety of services, the YMCA team needed a CMS that made managing website changes easy. We built the new site on WordPress, which could offer the ease of use needed for the team.

The backbone of the site addresses the concern of the user: finding a program quickly and easily. Users can now browse programs based on age, location and/or interest. By allowing the user to get to his/her destination faster, we reduce bounce rates and increase conversions and leads, while providing a pleasant experience for both the user and the website administrators.
